Downtown Palo Alto
What else can you do in Palo Alto besides? First, head to downtown and don’t miss University Avenue, where you can stroll down the street and duck into historic shops like Books Inc. and Mills Florist. This part of Palo Alto is highly walkable, you may want to get your coffee at a famous Coupa cafe. Every weekend visit the Palo Alto Farmers Market where local vendors put up stalls to sell fresh produce and baked goods. The farmers market is four-blocks long, so it’s enough to keep you busy from morning until noon.
Computer History Museum
Since this is the home of the biggest tech companies and is in fact the heart of Silicon Valley, it’s only natural for there to be a museum that details the history of innovation in this part of California. The Computer History Museum takes you through the 2,000 years of the evolution of computing.
Hike Baylands Nature Preserve
Palo Alto residents love to hike, and a popular spot is the Hike Baylands Nature Preserve, with almost 2,000 acres of salt marshes, 15 miles of flat-trails, and an abundance of wildlife. You will see runners, joggers, hikers, and cyclists here. Palo Alto is very cyclist-friendly with many bike lanes.
A Variety of Great Neighborhoods
In Palo Alto, there are now two neighborhoods alike. It is such a diverse city that each neighborhood has its charm. Midtown Palo Alto is a bit more laid back than downtown, however, South Palo Alto, particularly Barron Park is in a woodsy part of Palo Alto and has a feeling of being away from it all. But no matter which neighborhood you choose, the streets are lined with trees and the homes are beautiful.
